USDS + Lesbians Who Tech + Allies

We are excited and proud to go to Lesbians Who Tech + Allies Summit in San Francisco, February 28 — March 2! LWT focuses on increasing the visibility of LGBTQ women, trans and gender nonconforming individuals, LGBTQ people of color, and demographics that are underrepresented in the tech sector and LGBTQ spaces. Members of our team will be attending the summit to recruit for UX designers, engineers, and product managers — they can’t wait to hear about all of the work you are doing and connect at the summit!

Andréa Viza, She/Her, Lead Technical Recruiter, previously at Kforce, Inc. , from Berryville, VA

I am currently working on recruiting top talent to join our amazing agency, helping current USDSers tell their unique stories from their time here, and building brand awareness within different industries to ensure we hire people with all different perspectives. I am excited to be attending LWT in San Francisco for the second year in a row and continue building great relationships with the LWT community and to reconnect with people from last year! We have updated our great pride stickers so make sure to stop by and grab one :)

Melissa Carrasco, She/Her, Engineer, Digital Service at Veterans Affairs, previously worked at Amazon, originally from Sacramento, CA

I’m an engineer working on the Appeals team at Veteran Affairs. We are working on modernizing the tools used to support the appeals process and help improve the Veteran experience. This will be my first time attending LWT and I’m looking forward to meeting new people and discussing the impact you can have in the public sector. Please come say hi and learn about the U.S. Digital Service!

Clare Bayley, She/Her, Director of Product & Strategic Operations, U.S. Digital Service HQ, previously at Google, from Fayetteville, AR

Almost exactly one year ago I was wandering the job fair at LWT SF and ran across the USDS booth. TBH I was mostly looking for swag, but I got into a conversation about the work USDS was doing around Veteran Appeals and I walked away from that encounter with this weird, warm, energetic feeling. I was feeling inspired, which wasn’t something I’d felt about my work in a long time. Now I am delighted to be back at LWT on the other side of the booth, representing USDS as the Director of Product & Strategic Operations. (not sure what that means? Come ask me! 😉 )

Leah Bannon, She/Her, Product Manager, Digital Service at Veterans Affairs, previously worked at 18F (on projects like fec.gov and foia.gov), from Oakland, CA

Currently working on the new VA.gov team building the processes, tools, and standards that the VA will use to take over and scale modern, human-centered development. I’d love to chat more with folks who help simplify complicated processes for people about how we could be removing — not just modernizing — people’s barriers to needed benefits and entitlements.

The best of technology.
The best of government.
And we want you.

We’re looking for the most tenacious designers, software engineers, product managers, and more, who are committed to untangling, rewiring and redesigning critical government services. You’ll join a team of the most talented technologists from across the private sector and government.
